Our latest Team Sculpture project has been developed with The Daffodil Club, a community group based in Greater Easterhouse that works to reduce loneliness and social isolation among older people in Glasgow’s North East.

Based at Easterhouse Parish Church, members of The Daffodil Club took part in a series of workshops with artist Josie KO, exploring sculpture through conversation, hands-on making, and collective decision-making. The group also visited the Travelling Gallery as part of the programme, creating opportunities to engage with contemporary art in accessible and social settings.

Through the project, participants selected Black Pansy by Graham Fagen from the SPG Loan Toolkit. The bronze sculpture has now been installed at Easterhouse Parish Church, where it will remain on display until June 2027.

The installation was marked with a launch event bringing together participants, Sculpture Placement Group, the artist, and members of the wider community. As part of the event, Graham Fagen spoke about the story behind Black Pansy, including its personal significance and the ideas of identity, care, and visibility that run through the work.

Team Sculpture is SPG’s creative engagement programme for schools, community organisations, and care settings. It encourages meaningful connections with contemporary art through workshops, visits, and shared decision-making, supporting creativity, confidence, and wellbeing along the way.
