Loan Toolkit access bursaries available for artists
The Loan Toolkit is SPG’s free online platform where artists can list sculptures for temporary loan, placement and community-based projects. Listing work on the platform makes it visible to organisations, communities and partners looking to loan or place sculpture, including through paid opportunities developed by SPG.
Sculpture Placement Group is currently offering a limited number of access bursaries and practical upload support for artists who may face barriers to using the Loan Toolkit.
The bursary is intended to reduce practical and financial barriers to participating. Each bursary covers one hour of an artist’s time to upload their work to the Loan Toolkit, paid at Scottish Artists Union rates (£45). One bursary is available per artist.
Artists can also access one-hour sessions with an SPG assistant to help upload and manage their listings. If you face additional barriers to using the platform, please get in touch with us to discuss what further support may be available.
Opportunities through the Loan Toolkit
SPG uses the Loan Toolkit to identify artists for opportunities through our programmes and partnerships.
Team Sculpture
Team Sculpture works with schools, charities, community organisations and other shared spaces to place artworks where people live, learn and spend time together. Artists are identified through the Loan Toolkit and paid to loan their work, helping to bring contemporary sculpture into everyday spaces and increase access to art.
Sculpture Showcase with OuterSpaces
SPG is also working with OuterSpaces on Sculpture Showcase, a forthcoming nationwide project presenting sculptures in retail unit windows, generally within shopping centres. The project activates vacant spaces and brings contemporary art into people’s everyday lives.
How to join the Loan Toolkit
Joining the Loan Toolkit is free. Artists manage their own listings and can upload images, dimensions, practical information and availability, and update or remove their work at any time.
The Loan Toolkit also provides resources including guidance on rates and fees, contract templates, case studies, artwork care and condition reports, and practical information on transport, packaging and installation.
