Thematic/contextual information
The work was made during a residency for artist educators. The creatures can be seen 'wandering' the space made from carpet off-cuts, they are both bold in colour and feel a natural part of the space. In my teaching in a ceramics department, a lot of what I demonstrate is spinning, turning; coiling, wheel-throwing, making vessels etc. So this work was an experiment with material that was unfamiliar to me, but applying forces and methods used frequently with clay.
