Thematic/contextual information
Red Pine and the Occasional Screw developed from research concerned with the relationship between theatrical and cinematic spectatorship and the sculptural object. Addressing arguments outlined in Michael Fried’s 1967 essay Art and Objecthood, this work adopts minimalist language in order to question how notions of theatricality can be referenced within a space without there being a performing body present, live or recorded.
