Background, history, commissioner of the work

The object has been shown at the Goldsmiths Degree Show in 2021, as well as in a solo show at Artist Hive Studios in Tottenham, and was used to successfully apply for a spot on SIM Residency, Iceland, which I'll be attending for a month next April 2022.

Thematic/contextual information

Built for my BA degree show at Goldsmiths, the piece replicates a cartoonish version of an American or Nordic barn, which appears to have been dragged out of a cartoon and placed in reality. The laborious nature of its construction, as well as its contextualisation in line with the hidden labour which occurs constantly under late stage capitalism, aims to satirise notions of contemporary work in a lighthearted way.
