Background, history, commissioner of the work
This sculpture was made for a 2008 exhibition entitled "A Shout in the Street" at Tramway Glasgow.
A burst bin bag is an unlikely subject for a sculpture yet it directly addresses environmental issues and to some degree is a portrait of the artists bad habits. It is also an inversion of certain traditional archetypes, as it references the history of drapery in sculpture as well as the still life.
