In 2017 Aimee Lax took part in a residency at Cove Park, Scotland, overlooking Loch Long. She was immediately struck by the soil, peaty rich-brown and shimmering with metallic-looking healthy bacteria. The fungus and lichen bright green and orange, as a result of the clean air. But lurking around the corner, buried deep in the hill side, reside our nation’s warheads…This led to a fictional line of enquiry, what if any of the radiation should leak, what kind of organisms might result after decades of undetected toxic seepage?
