Part of a series of studio-based works made between 2010-2014 that explored the notion that 'nothing is destroyed only transformed'. Matter can only be changed.
Thematic/contextual information
Untitled with plinth is a wooden baluster cut into many smaller pieces which explore the idea of physical deconstruction, where something quite solid, alludes to the fluidity and fragility of the physical world. The familiarity of the baluster is destroyed as it ‘dribbles’ on to the floor like a pixelated puddle. The traditional use of a plinth is also questioned as it becomes an integrated part of the sculpture.
