Thematic/contextual information
My practice is largely research based and I employ an architectural technique called fabric forming. I have developed a way to free cast liquid foams and this piece, Under Pressure, was produced under lockdown 2020 and is an on-going exploration of material and form. The intense pressure of the situation underpins the piece. The fragility of the clay, forced by the pressure of the foam create bulges, crevices and surface tensions that were very much apparent at the time.
