Thematic/contextual information
The Forest of Red Kindness is cultivated to examine the connection between myself and my mother - the destiny to be a ‘kind’ person imposed on us by others through naming. The journey of disembodying our predetermined destinies tied to our names is intrinsically aimed at enhancing intimacy between myself and Hongsun Lee, as a daughter and mother, two daughters, and two women. The sculptures resembling hives, bees, and their attachments melt the complexity within these relationships in the forest.
