Background, history, commissioner of the work

Sculpture made as part of ongoing creative practice in the studio. Exhibited as part of the Exhibition of Finalists for the 1990 McGrigor Donald Sculpture Prize, Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Glasgow, the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh and in Cork Street, London.

Thematic/contextual information

Exploring an uneasy ecological balance between nature and the man-made, this sculpture considers in a marine context the metamorphosis of a fish with a radioactive container. The eye is a canister lid, the gills behind are filters.
