About the Artwork
I am drawn to the sea, it instils a calmness and breathing seems easier. I also love visiting prehistoric sites, imagining how the people who made them lived. This piece is an amalgamation of the two, an experiment I aim to take further.
Sea Stone is an exploration into working with stones from the sea. Sediment builds up for years, is put under pressure, becomes sandstone then breaks away from the cliff to be broken and up rolled around by the sea, slowly returning to sediment. The circular, unending role of nature is fascinating. The celtic style carvings are inspired by the sea.
