Suitable Locations for the Work
Background, history, commissioner of the work
This work was presented as part of Glasgow Open House Arts Project where artwork was shown in outdoor spaces as a result of COVID restrictions. The work was shown at The Verge project, a once derelict site that has been made into a brownfield garden and art project space in Glasgow.
This artwork was made as a site responsive work for a once derelict space in the city. It refers to derelict sites that have been overtaken with nature, and allowing for interesting plant life to emerge in often unexpected ways. The colour palette refers to flowers and pants growing on brownfield sites such as Buddleia and Broom. The work has been made with sustainability in mind, the withies are a traditional and sustainable material.
