Background, history, commissioner of the work
The work was produced in 2020 for the Goldsmiths University BAFA degree show, it was exhibited as part of a larger installation with another artist (HTR). We both produced works that explored the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on our relationship to the home.
Thematic/contextual information
This piece in particular references the 2-meter social distancing rule. It is a cross section of the experience and time, this is materialised in the work by the sliced angles of the sculpture and the clear perspex that not only holds the 'park' but allows the viewer to see through and along the 2 meter distance. By bringing the outdoors indoors the piece attempts to transform an elusive experience into a singularity as a unifying point of reflection.
