Thematic/contextual information
On Growth And Form is a reference to a seminal book of the same title by D’Arcy Thompson, published in 1917 that looks at how Darwinian theory coupled with mathematics creates the range of structures seen in nature. This book has provided artists and sculptors with inspiration and insight ever since.
The forms are based on a study of the dodecahedron, a twelve face object and one of the five Platonic solids.
