Thematic/contextual information
This sculpture is a tribute to the Palestinian cousins who died playing football on Gaza Beach in July 2014. Their names were Mohammad Ramiz Bakr, 11, Ahed Atef Bakr, 10, Zakariya Bakr, 10 and Ismail Mahmoud Bakr, 9. The relationship to Futurism was unplanned, and resulted from the process, but was ironic in that it was a movement beginning just prior to WW1, which promoted violence as a positive creative force.
