Background, history, commissioner of the work

The piece was first designed for an exhibition in rural Perthshire, though it has since been exhibited at a variety of venues in Scotland including the Dovecote in Edinburgh. NB the total weight is around 177kg for all 5 pieces, but each weighs around 35kg.

Comprising 5 dishes, each 60cm in diameter, this piece was made for an outdoor exhibition in a rural location. The piece was designed to be situated under rowan trees to catch whatever falls from them, concentrating attention on this detritus. However it has also been exhibited indoors where it begs the question - what is it going to gather?
