Background, history, commissioner of the work
In 2020, I was commissioned by the Collective Gallery in Edinburgh to create work for their City Dome space. It is a large textile work and is difficult to install in smaller venues, difficult to find a home for. Patricia Fleming Gallery has it in storage. They too have been looking for a home for the work but are also busy supporting all of their other artists as well.
Thematic/contextual information
The project for Collective Gallery’s City Dome space, a 19th-century decommissioned observatory in Edinburgh, was the final episode in a series of research experiments around using a carpet gun as a drawing tool and subject. It is a work that matter-of-factly hooks itself into a number of other subjects such as architecture, painting, and a number of different craft practices and techniques.
