Background, history, commissioner of the work
The work was completely self-initiated. I am constantly drawn to nature & I enjoy escaping to high, wild places - (I have completed long distance walks in The Himalaya, to Everest Base Camp, a Tour du Mont Blanc in the Alps, an Alta Via 1 in The Dolomites, then various walks around/near The Matterhorn along with The Pennine Way in the UK etc). Glimpses & sightings of Ibex have fed into the inspiration for this work leading to research into the shape and gracefulness of the Impala.
Thematic/contextual information
I admire the materials I use here - concrete and Rebar and I have strived to find a way to celebrate them, to highlight their organic qualities and show the gracefulness through the curves and strength inherent in them. I have attempted to marry my love of nature with my professional interest in abstraction. Like nature the work looks different from multiple angles
